Hayle (a.k.a. The Bluff)
Located in St Ives bay and regarded as one of the premier kitesurfing locations, Hayle is a river estuary providing both flat shallow water and swell. There are strong currents so keep to the shallows for kite launching and board retrieval. A retractable leash is also advisable and courteous to pick up any runaways. The river changes course and depth as the sand banks relocate so keep to the water where your fins don’t bottom-out or you will be eating sand! No kitesurfing is permitted in the boats passageway, when the water is above knee depth or boats are present. Once the tide fills the lagoons the water becomes choppier. It is then time for a pint in the bluff inn (car park fee returned with ticket and purchase).
