Tim Ovens and Louise McDonagh opened Mobius kite school in March 2004.  They wanted to share their passion of kite sports with everyone by introducing people safely with professional tuition.  Since opening, Mobius have become the first BKSA Approved School in Cornwall and are the lead specialists in kite flying instruction.  Having already introduced thousands of people into kite activities, they aim to keep the sport growing safely and to continue their work with local councils and beach owners to keep access open and the beaches safe.  Tim and Louise initially started teaching by themselves, but now get frequently visited by other IKO instructors who join their team.  Keep an eye on this page to see any new faces at Mobius.

Tim (aka Timo) has been kiting since 1999 and instructing since 2001. In the summer of 2003 he took part in his first BKSA competition, where he won the expression session (best trick contest) and was named best newcomer of the year.  Since then, he has continued to push to higher levels, both his kitesurfing ability and his instructor capabilities.  Tim is now a BKSA trainer, allowing him to run refresher, cross-over and assistant instructor courses on top of all the other courses that Mobius have to offer. Although a North kites Team Rider, Tim has not returned to competitions in the last couple of years due to concentrating his efforts on the business, but he plans to enter again this year.  The standard of riding is so high in Cornwall that Tim is still able to push his kitesurfing from strength to strength even when he is not on the competition circuit.

Louise started power kiting in summer 2003 and had learnt to kitesurf by the end of the summer. She completed her IKO qualifications to become an instructor back in September 2004. She continues to gain teaching experience and with her big smile and fun approach to instructing, everyone gets the most out of their lesson.  Louise also hopes that being a female instructor will encourage more women into the sports.  You will always see her out kitesurfing before and after every lesson, riding the waves and doing big carve turns!

Chris has been kitesurfing for a few years, yet another student who got into it at university and spent their student time and loan money wisely!  He became an instructor after having graduated, and has taught for Mobius during this last year.  Although originally a Cornish boy, he lived in Bermuda for some time whilst growing up, so with an easy going Bermudan attitude coupled with thorough and professional tuition, he continues to give all his students a thoroughly enjoyable time.  Chris is also a very accomplished rider, watch him go a little crazy on his kite once he hits the water after teaching!  He is also the designer and shaper of Superfly kiteboards, the website should be up and running very soon but in the meantime, if you would like any more information please don't hesitate to contact us.

Gary (aka the back loop guru) passed his Instructors Training Course in Cyprus in 2005 and has now gained the experience to become a level 2 instructor. As well as teaching kitesurfing, Gary is also a PE teacher, personal trainer, mountain bike guide and kayaking instructor. Needless to say, Gary is very accomplished at organising groups and making sure that everyone gets the most from the lesson no matter what their ability. If he is not teaching, he still never sits still, he is always out canoeing, entertaining his children, helping coach the local football team, and of course on the water kitesurfing, throwing lots of back-loops!

Kerrie is our administrative and marketing executive! A new member of the team, kerrie has become an invaluable asset to the business. She has the difficult task of trying to book everyone in, organise the instructors and make sure everybody gets to the right location at the right time for their lessons. Having learnt to operate a website design programme, she has also makes considerable improvements and updates to our website, which before now, used to remain unchanged until each winter! Kerrie is having a go at all the activities one by one and I am sure we will have her on the water kitesurfing in no time. We just have to be careful we don't loose her from the office if she gets too accustomed to the beach!
